News Update - September 23, 1999 |
It's been a while (again). But I'm back! Heh. As you can see on the right I've started to make the entry for the Boys Will Be Boys 12" EP. You can check it out in the albums section of the web site.
Bren R. also corrected a bunch of lyrics from the new songs off of the new F.R.'s album, you can check out the lyrics and see if you can figure out the ones I still can't get.
I found some info on the Killed By Death #26 12" that the Rebels appear on. It was on a page called Punk Rock Canada, pretty informative. I still don't know the year it was put out...
Killed By Death #26 LP [Nazi Training Camp / Want Some Bondage (D.O.A.) / TV's
On The Blink / Do The Strangle (Action) / Danger Boy / Backdoor To Hell
(Viletones) / To Have Some Fun (Ugly) / Shoeshine Boy / Killer Bees (Curse) /
Angry / National Unity (Forgotten Rebels) / What Do You Want Me To Do?
(Pointed Sticks) / Love Is Shit / Past Is Past (Dishrags) / Steppin' Stone
(Cardboard Brains) / Step Out Tonight (Mods)].
A passable compilation of early Canadian punk. There is better that could
have been included in lieu of the likes of the Ugly and 2nd Curse tracks.
Rating: 7.
Also a comment about the F.R.'s from the same page:
Others worth finding include Action, Active Dog, Bureaucrats, Cardboard Brains 1st EP, Da Slyme, Demics 12", the 1st Diodes LP, Discords, Dishrags
(particularly their 2nd but just go buy the CD), some early D.O.A., Forgotten Rebels 12" and In Love With The System LP (if you're one of those obnoxious
politically correct type punks you might want to avoid them however)
Cool news! You can download some great Forgotten Rebels cover songs from mp3.com. The band is called Syringe and they cover Elvis is Dead, Surfin' On Heroin and Fuck Me Dead. Very good and unique covers of these songs! All the info you need is on the above page. I've also made these songs available on my Internet Radio stations ftp site. ftp://ftp.rantradio.com/forgottenrebelsmp3s/
Yay!!! I've put up a biography of our beloved band the F.R.'s, it's a big rip off from the UBL site on F.R.'s

News Update - July 13, 1999 |
Wow, it's been a while since an update and I've got quite a few things for you! I've now posted the incomplete lyrics to "Hockey Nite/Dirty Dad", "Little Girl" and "American In Me" off of the upcoming album. Please please help me figure out the lyrics I'm missing!!! The mp3's are back up again after a brief period of being down, sorry.
There are some new pictures!! Take a gander at especially Mickey's Wedding picture, exclusive to this web site!! (I didn't put the caption, I think it was Jeff C.) I haven't got a exact date on when he got married. If somebody knows the exact day, please let me know. There are also some pictures of their trip over in Europe and some live shots of them playing.
I've updated some album covers ("This Ain't Hollywood" 1st Pressing) as I now have a program that can stitch together separate scans.
I am now the proud owner of the last remaining hard to find piece of Rebels vinyl. "Bomb Khaddafi Now". And yes, it comes in a plain white sleeve. Now all I need the the "Burning The Flag" Demo Cassette, "Surfin' on Heroin" 12", and "Untitled" 12". If anybody has these in perfect condition, or in the case of the cassette, any condition, please let me know.
I hope to have this site as complete as possible before the new album comes out so that when people actually pick up the album and read the web site on the liner notes (Hint, hint Mickey/Jeff) that they will have something decent to come look at. I'm also thinking of adding in a guestbook for comments.
I've now got my computer set up to digitize video so that soon there will be all the official Forgotten Rebels videos online. Because you can't see them anywhere else! If these videos were for sale I wouldn't put them up, but you can't buy them or even see them on MuchMusic (because they're bastards and they won't play them).

News Update - May 18, 1999 |
Jeff C. has told me to post the phone number for booking the legendary Forgotten Rebels. If you would like Mickey and the boys to play in your town (please, only serious people who know what they're doing) can phone Donny Blais 1-416-920-0366, this is also posted in the fan club area.
The new Forgotten Rebels songs are here! All you hungry Rebels fanatics can download them off of RantRadio's FTP site!! I even ID3 tagged them with relevant information. Four songs in total with two versions of one song. Enjoy.
See if you can pick out which of the new songs has Dave singing it!
Now that the Rebels have finished recording their album they are shopping it around for distributors! Mmmmm, new rebel album. Mmmmm.... means new rebel tour.
Here is an e-mail from Nivek on the Forgotten Rebels list (hint hint, join join, you'll get all the latest news) about Mickey's bride to be and a night that he spent with them.
James,
Well, the evening went pretty well(Mickey's Jack'n'Jill), except for some really
drunk jerk (I think that was me!!!).........
Actually, I WAS really hammered, due to 12 hour shifts on Thurs. and
Fri.......and no time for dinner on Friday night. I had a few before even
getting there too!!!!
Mickey's future wife Pamela was very cool. I only spoke to her briefly, but she
is very nice, and from a comment made by Mickey, he cares for her very much. I
wish them all the happiness possible. It was a very fun evening. I must add that
Pamela beat Mickey at the little race they had. Each had selected 6 articles of
clothing for the other to put on. These were put on chairs for them, and they
raced each other to dress. It was VERY close, but she won by about 2 seconds. A
friend of mine snapped a shot of Mickey when it was finished.......I'll have to
get a copy of that one!!!!! I asked the DJ to play "Mickey' by Toni Basil after
the race, but he didn't have it. About an hour later, I asked again, and he gave
me the mike and told me I was on........well, with the (much needed) help from
Bob, we did sing a little of it. I don't know if that was such a good idea, but
it was a little funny (we got really strange looks!!!).
I spoke to Jeff C., and he gave permisson for me to post the MP3 of
'HockeyNight' on my site too. I wanted to ask first, and I'm very happy he
accepted my request. He is a really cool guy to talk to (although he probably
figures I was a total waistoid at the point I was speaking to him!!!!). The
night was a who's who of Hamilton. A couple of guys from the 'Wet Spots', and
the singer from the 'Sick Boys', and a few others I don't recall at this point.
Bob grew up (and lives) in Hamilton, and seemed to know everyone in the place.
The food was REALLY good. I think it was Pamela's mother that had made some of
it......and MAN, it was good!!!!!
Over all the evening seemed to be a good time for all, and it seemed that the
happy couple were pleased with it as well. Please help and wish them all the
best in the coming years together.

News Update - April 20, 1999 |
I know, I know, it's been a month. So here's some updates for you drooling fans.
I've updated information on the Tribute Album for the Forgotten Rebels and I've also added it to the Discography
Jeff C. asked me to move Executive Outcomes into another category on the Discography because, well, it's not actually a real release and I agree with him. I don't know what I was thinking. It went into the "Other" category.
I've also updated the information on how to subscribe to the F.R.'s e-mail list so people can keep informed with up to date information of the goings on of the Rebels and also talk to other hard core Rebels fans!! There are currently over 50 people on the e-mail list so chat away! The e-mail list is now completely automated with auto signup and signout so many more people can join up!
The rough mix of the Hockey Nite song by the Forgotten Rebels can be downloaded for free from THIS LOCATION. The Rebels have given permission for all you fans to download it. Even though Mickey has only been on the Internet once (and that was to look at this web page) they are still right up there with the current trends of giving away their music to their fans because it's about the music not the money. Other bands that have recently done this are Billy Idol and Public Enemy. Public Enemy is releasing their WHOLE new album for free on the Internet. If you download the song and it sounds all messed up you need to either use a proper FTP program to download it or find a program called Uncook,

Just to tease you I'm posting the lyrics to Hockey Nite/Dirty Dad.

News Update - March 10, 1999 |
Ok everyone, big apology for no updates forever, but first, not much has actually happened. I will be updating a lot of stuff very soon. My time has been occupied with this thing right here. I know, I know, shameless plug. I will be playing the NEW FORGOTTEN REBELS SONG Sunday night on my show at 10:00PM PST.
Yes you heard right, the first new studio recording Forgotten Rebels song in 5 years. The name on the mp3 was "hockeynite.mp3", but it might be called "Dirty Dad". The show is called State of the Station hosted by Cimmerian (me). After which I will be posting it on the web page for everyone to download. The Forgotten Rebels have made this song a free download for everyone. I will be promoting it on MP3.COM and any other place that I can to get publicity for them.
The Rebel Boys have sent me some photo's and graphics and information that I will be adding in. Over the next couple of days. Some stuff from their European tour!!
We now have over 10000 visitors that have come to this site! Thanks everyone! I'm so glad I could make a contribution to the net and the Rebels.

News Update - January 11, 1999 |
Some more news on the F.R.'s tribute album. Brado has these things to say about it
*received a submission of LITTLE GIRL for the FR tribute
*I believe the HAMILTON SPECTATOR (Hamilton and surrounding area,
Ontario newspaper) featured a story on the FR tribute, which I was aware
of as I was interviewed for it, and am in the process of obtaining a
copy of.
*AL SMOLAK (FR Guitar: 1st LP) has recently stated he would be willing
to contribute some nifty liner notes and record a special version of a
REBELS classic
*the deadline is really closing in on this project, and it looks like it
will turn out to be a success. I am aiming for a full-length CD, and it
looks likes that will occur. All the entries received so far have been
very impressive, with excellent quality. If you are a band submitting,
please get your stuff in ASAP. There will be no extension to this
project, the end of Feb. means it's out of my hands.
*Bands that have submitted, please refer to this site for any and all
updates. If I should need to contact you, I will.

The boys are playing a whole ton of gigs in Europe coming up in February, so make sure you don't miss that! They don't get over there too often. Here is a flyer from one of their shows over in Europe. Click it for a big big version.
