News Update - October 11, 2002 |
Now THIS is something worth updating the site for! The Forgotten Rebels are having a documentary made about them! It's about time these guys got what they deserve. I've alway thought a little bit of the Rebels were in "Hard Core Logo" (a movie about a Canadian punk band, that you really should see).
Hi to all Rebels Fans
My name is Douglas Crawford and I am an independant
filmmaker embarking on a project about the Forgotten
Rebels and am looking for fans of the band around the
world who can talk about their music and the Punk
lifestyle. If you are interested and feel you have
something to say please contact me at
frebelsdoc@yahoo.com
and please include a photo.
Thank you
Also I got an e-mail from our good buddy Luc about a gig coming up about the Forgotten Rebels.
Salut,
Talked with Donny Blais. The Forgotten Rebels play on Nov. 29 in Hamilton @ The Underground. More gigs the following weeks in southern Ontario. Unfortunately, Montrealers won't get to see them again this year. They would play the West Coast if someone would have them come over. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers.
Luc-A. Lavoie.
On another note, the email list is a bit screwed up at the moment so some people (including me) may not be receiving e-mail from the list. If there is anything important that I should know, please e-mail me.

News Update - July 5, 2002 |
All quiet on the Rebels front except for an upcoming gig on July 22, 2002. Go to the Gigs section for details.

News Update - April 25, 2002 |
To the right is the "Spiked - A Punk Overview - Retro 80's" CD I've scanned in. I got this a little while ago and thought fans would be interested. The Rebels appear on one track with 'Surfin' On Heroin (Demo Version)'. It's a little hard to find but keep your eyes open for it.
Super Rebels fan Luc wrote a brief review of the show on the 5th at The Corktown that you can read here in the Gigs section. He also took some pictures that I'll be putting up soon. There's also some news in the review but it's the same old stuff.. "Mickey working on solo project, video coming soon, new album coming soon". The exciting thing for me is that they'll be coming to the West Coast this year and I don't have to wait another three years!
I've got some details on the Rebels first EP Tomorrow Belongs To Us 12" that you may find interesting. Here's a quote from Marc regarding the TWO pressings of the first record.

I've got some details on the Rebels first EP Tomorrow Belongs To Us 12" that you may find interesting. Here's a quote from Marc regarding the TWO pressings of the first record.
There are two pressings of the “Tomorrow Belongs To Us” 12” EP.
The matrixes are identical on both pressings, indicating, I think, that they were pressed from the same plates.
One pressing says:
“Manufactured by S&M Records, 7 Catherine St. North apt. 13 Hamilton Ont.”
in black printing, all on one line, in the middle of the white band on the back cover.
The red on the labels of this pressing is a rich, darker red.
There is a pronounced indentation ridge on the label about 3.5 cm from the centre, and a slight curve in the vinyl itself about 1 cm from the outer edge of the record.
The other pressing says:
“Manufactured by S&M Records International
and Basement Studio Productions
73 William St. Hamilton, Ontario”
in black printing, on three lines, in the middle of the white band on the back cover
The red on the labels is a slightly lighter, orangey red.
This pressing has a pronounced circular indentation ridge about 1.5 cm from the center, which goes through the “S” and the “M” in the “S&M” logo, and a less pronounced smoother ridge at about 3.5 cm from the center. I think this may indicate that the records were pressed at different plants or at least on different presses.
I think the first described may be the first pressing, based on the fact that they added “international” in the address on what I suspect is the second pressing, when they saw that they were successful enough with the first pressing that they might as well go for broke, and also advertise “Basement Studio Productions” while they were at it.
In the interview at:
http://www.worldwidepunk.com/interviews/forgottenrebels/
Mickey mentions that there were 2000 copies of the first pressing and 1000 of the second.
I'm trying to find out more about this, but information seems scarce. I'll let you know what I find out.
Cheers,
Marc

News Update - March 22, 2002 |
Long time no update! Well, one of the motivations is that there's really been no news since then, or gigs (that I know of). If anybody has info on gigs they have played up to this date, please let me know. For now I have posted three more new shows coming up in the Ontario area.
I've garnered some more F.R.'s albums and CDs recently and also my scanner is now working so I will be scanning in all of the new stuff I have. For now here's a book with Forgotten Rebels on the cover. It's a great book with tons of Canadian punk band listing with lots of great pictures. It's quite rare and goes for up to around $100US (it comes with a 7" record, or should).
